Notability Guidelines
Notability guidelines help determine which subjects warrant their own articles on Origin Wiki. These standards ensure that our encyclopedia focuses on significant topics relevant to our community.
General Notability Guideline
A subject is presumed to be notable enough for a standalone article if it has received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources. Significant coverage means that sources address the subject directly and in detail, not merely in passing.
Key principles:
- Coverage must come from multiple reliable sources
- Sources should be independent of the subject
- Coverage should be substantial, not brief mentions
- Notability cannot be inherited or transferred

- Participated in major events or developments in the crypto space
- Received extensive media coverage for their work in cryptocurrency
Note: Social media follower count alone does not establish notability.

What Notability is Not
It's important to understand what does not establish notability:
- Social media presence alone: Having many followers does not automatically make someone notable.
- Self-promotion: Content created by the subject or affiliated parties doesn't count toward notability.
- Temporary popularity: Brief viral moments without lasting significance don't establish notability.
- Association with notable subjects: Being connected to a notable person or project doesn't transfer notability.
- Paid promotion or advertising: Sponsored content doesn't count as independent coverage.
Evaluating Sources
When determining if sources establish notability, consider:
Reliable Sources
- Established cryptocurrency news outlets
- Mainstream financial and technology publications
- Academic journals and research papers
- Books from reputable publishers
- Industry reports from established firms
Less Reliable Sources
- Self-published content (blogs, social media)
- Press releases and promotional materials
- Content from the subject or affiliated parties
- Anonymous or unattributed sources
- Sources with clear conflicts of interest
When in Doubt
If you're unsure whether a subject meets our notability guidelines:
- Gather as many independent, reliable sources as possible
- Start the article in your user space as a draft
- Ask for feedback on the article's talk page or community portal
- Focus on verifiable facts rather than claims of importance
- Consider whether the subject might be better covered as part of a broader article
